Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to pay extra fees when my package arrives?

Due to NEW Customs rules (effective August 29, 2025), import duties/tariffs will be charged to most packages entering the U.S., based on the current tariff rate of the country of origin i.e. where the product was made. Our shop ships via Chit Chats, a third party service that utilizes partner carriers like Canada Post, and USPS for "final mile" delivery. Packages destined for the USA are subject to DDP postage (Delivered Duty Paid), meaning extra fees are paid up-front, so there won't be any surprises on the recipients' end on arrival. Listings that do not indicate shipping options for our American customers can, in most cases, still be shipped - we just have to calculate and collect the associated fees. Contact us for details.

How much will the extra duty fees be?

An ad valorem tariff rate, based on a product's country of origin (where it was made), and calculated as a percentage of an item's value, will apply to the majority of our listings. For listings that do not indicate a U.S. destined delivery fee, please contact us with your address: we are more than happy to complete the requisite paper work to determine any additional fees associated with your product(s) of choice, and create a private listing for said item(s).

How can I determine the Country of Origin?

We have added Country of Origin to each of our listings to assist you, should you prefer to "guesstimate" extra fees on your own. You can check online tariff tools or search "international tariff rates by country", or contact U.S. Customs and Border Control. We can not ship items with indeterminate country of origin, at this time. Again, we're happy to contact our shipping partner to determine the exact fees associated with the item(s) you're interested in: simply contact us, and include a shipping address.

Will Canadian shoppers be affected by U.S. tariffs and termination of the Section 321 De Minimis exemption??

Fellow Canadians, shopping at Where the Wild Finds Are, will not incur additional fees due to U.S. tariffs.

Why is it so expensive to ship a single book to the U.S.?

The shipping cost for single book purchases is a direct reflection of the brokerage fees incurred to ship to the U.S. following the imposition of tariffs and termination of the de minimis exemption. To help offset the increase, we have reduced the cost for additional titles shipped in the same order to $2. All orders are shipped with tracking and insurance, protecting both buyer and seller from loss or damage. Shipping overages, when they occur, are refunded.
